The Park Terrace Community United Methodist Church is looking for local artists
to display artwork on Good Friday, March 21st, 2008. The art show, entitled
“From the Garden to the Grave”, will be open to the public on
Good Friday, and will feature original artwork inspired by John 18:1 - 19:42.
Works should be based on a verse, a theme, or a retelling of the Good Friday
narrative. We welcome pieces both abstract and realistic.
This show is not juried, nor are there any prizes. We will not be selling
artwork (artists may have business cards and/or contact information available).
It is simply a chance for you to express your faith through your artwork,
and to explore the story and themes of Good Friday. It is our hope that this
event will be an experience of worship, bringing artists and viewers closer
to God.
Instructions:
• Two dimensional artwork should be framed and have a wire for hanging.
• Three dimensional artists will need to supply their own pedestals
or means of display.
• Artists are encouraged to write an Artist Statement and print it onto
an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. This will allow viewers to see the artwork and
interpret it in a more meditative and worshipful frame of mind.
• The opening will take place from 6-9PM. Our church will provide refreshments.
Artists are invited and encouraged to attend.
Deadlines:
• If you intend to submit a piece, please
send a description of the work no later than March 9th, 2008.
• Artwork should be delivered to the church between Noon-5pm March 16
, or between 9am-Noon March 17-19, or by appointment.
• We reserve the right to remove any artwork deemed offensive or inappropriate
to a family-friendly environment.
